Single-Digit Plate Sold in Dubai For Tens of Millions

A rare single-digit number plate "DD 5" was sold in Dubai for 35,000,000 AED. Muhammad BinGhatti, of BinGhatti Holding - a real estate development company, bid paddle number 7, bought the plate in the 'Most Notable Number' auction. It had a starting price of 15,000,000 AED but more than 20 people placed bids on it until it fetched 35,000,000 AED.

The auction, held at the Armani Hotel in the Burj Khalifa, raised 83,677,000 AED for the Fathers' Endowment campaign, which implements healthcare projects in underdeveloped countries.

Four other plates were sold in the auction, including "DD 24" which was sold for 6.3 million AED to 13-year-old Abdulkader Walid Asaad.

The other plates were "DD 12" for 12,800,000 AED, "DD 15" for 9,200,000 AED and "DD 77" for 12,600,000 AED.
