F 1: The UK's Most Iconic Number Plate

Businessman and car designer Afzal Kahn paid a record £375,000 plus VAT at 17.5%, totalling £440,625, in 2008 for the 'F 1' number plate.

At the time, it made it the most expensive publicly known number plate sale in the UK.

Currently, the plate is advertised on Regtransfers for £15,000,000

Originally owned by Essex County Council, the plate was sold off to help plug a growing budget deficit. It was originally issued in Essex in 1903
