The Eight Single "0" Number Plates of the UK

Only eight single-number "0" registrations exist in the entire UK.

Seven are Scottish, one is English, and none of them were ever meant to exist in the first place.

Not Issued, But Created

Unlike early low-number plates, the "0" registrations were not part of the original allocation system. Instead, they were specially created and issued to local authorities for official ceremonial use.

These plates were created only after attempts to acquire the corresponding "1" plate failed.

G 0 – Issued to the Lord Provost of Glasgow

HS 0 – Issued to Eastward District Council, later East Renfrewshire Council when Eastward District Council was abolished in 1996. Recently, the council announced that they were interested in selling the plate and are wanting an offer of six-figures.

LM 0 – Issued to the City of London for use by the Lord Mayor of London. It is the only single '0' number plate in England

RG 0 – Issued to the Lord Provost of Aberdeen

S 0 – Issued to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh

SY 0 – Issued to Midlothian Council

V 0 – Issued to the Lord Provost of Strathclyde Regional Council. There is an advert of it for sale in 1995 (offers invited) but it did not sell.

VS 0 – Issued to Inverclyde Council
